Free From Sin and Death!

“Dear Diary,

Today, July 3rd, 9:24 pm.

Hi everyone! This is Deanna in her first post for her “Dear Diary” category!

I’m very excited to be starting this blog! I hope you are excited to be reading it. πŸ™‚

(By the way, if you haven’t read my “About” section on my main page it’s a must so please do so right away lol!)

So, I hope you don’t mind if I start offΒ  this blog where I am right now and skip the back story. (Telling you all of my back story would take way to long lol!)

Since I’m starting today (like I said, hope you don’t mind) I’m going to talk about what tomorrow July fourth (Independence Day!) means to me this year. πŸ™‚

This is a note I wrote awhile back for Memorial Day on F.B about what it costs those who fight for our country:

Imagine waking up at any given hour. Sometimes you get only one hour of sleep at a time. Think that’s terrible? Well then Imagine have to stick yourself in dirt and blood smeared clothing, no, actually imagine having to sleep in that and not getting to change at all. Is you heart twisting in turmoil yet? No? Well then on top of all that imagine that you have to now walk to the front lines and risk your life. You do this every day. You put your heart in the way of bullets every second. You risk your arm or leg being cut from your body or even worse your own head. You are lucky if you don’t get blown to bits. You lose so many comrades… friends EVERYDAY. Do you consider this a nightmare? Would you ever do these things? Well guess what, many do it for our freedom every day and its no nightmare. Its reality.

But today my Pastor was talking about remembering what this day means to our country, but that we also need to remember that without God it would be impossible for us to be alive much less living free!

And even if you don’t live in a free country you can still be free, because of what Jesus did for us all.

So I title this post:

Free From Sin and Death.

Who Freed us and how were we freed? What were we freed from?

I’d like to start with a verse I’ve memorized:

1 John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not die but have everlasting life!

Why will we die if we don’t believe in God’s son, Jesus?

Because Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”

What does sin have to do with death?

Romans 6:23 answers that, “For the payment of sin is death.”

But it also tells us how we can live,

(same verse), “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord!”

Eternal life and freedom from Satan’s evil is a GIFTΒ  to us, but it wasn’t free to Jesus!

I recommend you read all of the chapters in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John in a bible to hear the full story and to really understand it fully; but here is the basic synopsis:

Jesus The King Of Kings came down from heaven and was born as a baby to a virgin young woman in a dirty musty stable thousands of years ago.

Jesus grew from a boy to a man without sin!

As an adult He loved everyone and traveled healing and feeding everyone He came across! (Which amounted to thousands and thousands of people.) He was still without sin!

But the religious leaders of that day hated Him because He turned their beliefs upside down! So they plotted to kill Him.

One of Jesus’ closest friends (one of His followers) took money that the religious leaders were offering to whoever would give Jesus over to them to be killed! Jesus knew He was going to be taken and who had betrayed Him but He still loved the one who betrayed Him (Judas)!

Jesus went with the guards willingly, without fighting, knowing that His time to save us all had come.

They tortured Him, whipping Him down to the bone, ripping the flesh from His body! They mocked Him and spit on Him! Through it all He did nothing and said nothing mean, in fact, after they nailed Him to the cross He prayed out loud, “Father, forgive them, they don’t know what they do!”

Then He died with these words on His lips and the sin of the world on His shoulders, “It is finished!”

He went to Hell for two days and took our dead spirits back from Satan and on the third day He rose from the dead and met with his friends. He told them they were free and instructed them to tell everybody else they could be free when they believe too!

Now He is back in heaven and is in constant conversation with our saved souls!

But we must believe and confess that He died and rose again! That He is alive and loves us all!!

Then you can be free from sin and Satan’s evil power!

It is an everyday choice to continue to believe and to have a deep relationship with our Father God, Our Savior Jesus and our Shower of The Way The Holy Spirit.

It is a choice that I am still making everyday to trust and believe His words. πŸ™‚

  1. interesting…. Ummm do you know if you have a lot of non-christians reading this? because I have a feeling that most of your readers know God and that you would be better spending your time strengthening peoples beliefs not preaching at them…. Just an idea πŸ™‚ love you πŸ˜€
